The American Embassy in Islamabad has declined to issue a visa to singer Rahat Fateh Ali Khan for his upcoming concert. This decision was based on the grounds of unpaid taxes for the income he earned in the United States between 2015 and 2023.
According to the embassy, visa applicants are required to provide IRS documentation demonstrating tax payments from 2015 to 2023, along with legal documents from the Bollywood Event LLC.
Rahat Fateh Ali Khan contends that he has already fulfilled his tax obligations on his U.S. income through his promoters. He communicated with his promoters to obtain the necessary documentation for tax payments, which was intended for submission to the embassy. He expressed surprise and raised questions about the reasons behind the visa denial.
This incident has brought attention to Rahat Fateh Ali Khan’s tax situation in the U.S. and the implications it has on his visa application. He had planned to travel to the United States on November 18 for a musical show organized by the Association of Pakistani Physicians of North America, facilitated by his promoter, Rehan Siddiqui.
