All government & private schools along with markets would remain closed on Wednesday until further notice.
Officials have announced that all private and government schools, as well as markets, will be closed on Wednesdays until further notice. This move comes as a response to the concerning levels of smog and air pollution in the provincial capital. Commissioner Lahore, Muhammad Ali Randhawa, conducted a crucial meeting with a delegation of traders to address the issue.
During the meeting, it was collectively decided that schools, markets, government, and private institutions will remain closed every Wednesday until further notice. This measure will be implemented immediately, leading to a complete shutdown in Lahore on Wednesdays.
Schools have been instructed to ensure that their staff members work from home on Wednesdays to facilitate the transition to this new schedule. Banks, private institutions, clubs, and hotels are also expected to comply with this Wednesday shutdown.
This means that schools, markets, government offices, and private institutions will all be closed on Wednesdays. The primary goal of this decision is to reduce emissions from vehicles and industrial activities on a designated day of the week in order to alleviate air pollution.
This significant decision was prompted by a directive from Chief Minister Punjab, Mohsin Naqvi, to take immediate action to address the deteriorating air quality in Lahore. The city has been struggling with dangerously high levels of smog, leading to health concerns and reduced visibility.
