ISLAMABAD: In a positive development, Pakistan’s economic situation has improved as the unemployment rate has declined compared to last year, Reportedly Tuesday.
This information was disclosed in the second quarter report of Ipsos-Pakistan’s 2024 consumer confidence survey, which included over 1,000 participants from various regions of the country. 4o
According to the 2024 survey, the number of Pakistanis reporting unemployment last year dropped by 7%.
In the previous survey, 57% of participants reported that they or someone they knew was unemployed, compared to 50% in the current survey. Additionally, the percentage of people who stated they did not lose their job rose by 5%.
The rate of Pakistanis who became unemployed in the last year has decreased by 13% from September 2023 till now, as 63% said to be unemployed in September 2023.
In the survey, a 10% reduction in the fear of job loss was noted among Pakistanis. In September 2023, 95% expressed concern about unemployment, whereas the current survey shows this has decreased to 85%. Additionally, confidence in employment among Pakistanis rose from 5% to 15% during the same period. 4o
