LAHORE – In Pakistan, the situation with cars is really uncertain, and people are getting ready for another increase of 25 percent in sales tax.
The recent increase in prices came about because of a suggestion from the Economic Coordination Committee (ECC). They proposed raising the sales tax rate on cars made and put together locally. With a 25 percent sales tax now in place, cars that cost Rs4 million or higher, or those with engines larger than 1400cc, will cost more.
Following are cars which will become more expensive.
The Suzuki Cultus VXL, which costs Rs4.084 million, and the Suzuki AGS, priced at Rs4.36 million, will be subject to the new sales tax.
All variants of Suzuki Swift including Suzuki Swift GL CVT, and Suzuki Swift GLX CVT will be more expensive.
Toyota Yaris models including Toyota Yaris GLI MT 1.3, Yaris GLI MT 1.3, Toyota Yaris ATIV MT 1.3, Yaris ATIV MT 1.3, Toyota Yaris GLI CVT 1.3, Yaris GLI CVT 1.3, Toyota Yaris ATIV CVT 1.3, Yaris ATIV CVT 1.3, Toyota Yaris AERO CVT 1.3, Yaris AERO CVT 1.3, Toyota Yaris ATIV X MT 1.5, Yaris ATIV X MT 1.5, Toyota Yaris ATIV X CVT 1.5, Yaris ATIV X CVT 1.5, Toyota Yaris AERO CVT 1.5 will become more expensive.
All models of Honda City including Honda City 1.2L M/T, City 1.2L M/T, Honda City 1.2L CVT, City 1.2L CVT, Honda City 1.5L CVT, City 1.5L CVT, Honda City 1.5L ASPIRE M/T, City 1.5L ASPIRE M/T, Honda City 1.5L ASPIRE CVT will bear the brunt.
For those who may not know, regular people are already paying a 25 percent sales tax on cars with engines larger than 1400cc.
