MG Pakistan has launched the locally assembled MG HS Plug-In Hybrid Electric Vehicle (PHEV) in the country.
Positioned as a high-value choice in the 7-9 million PKR price range, the HS PHEV delivers competitive performance, contemporary design, and remarkable fuel efficiency, competing with popular models such as the Honda Civic RS and Haval H6 HEV.
Now manufactured locally as a CKD (completely knocked down) unit, this second-generation HS features an enhanced set of features designed to make hybrid technology more accessible to the Pakistani market.
Power and Performance:
The MG HS PHEV features a hybrid system that combines a 1.5L turbocharged petrol engine with an electric motor, producing a total output of 260 hp and an impressive 370 Nm of torque.
The petrol engine generates 160 hp, while the electric motor adds another 120 hp. Matched with a 10-speed EDU2 automatic transmission, the HS PHEV delivers a smooth front-wheel drive performance.
It can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 7.1 seconds, and with a 16.6 kWh battery, it claims a combined fuel efficiency of up to 58.8 km/L (based on WLTP standards). However, in real-world conditions on Pakistani roads, this efficiency is anticipated to realistically range between 28-35 km/L, still an impressive figure for a midsize crossover.
Exterior Design:
The front of the vehicle is equipped with matrix LED headlights that include daytime running lights (DRL) and an auto-dip function, while the dual-tone 18-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels add to the crossover’s stylish aesthetic.
At the rear, the 3D LED tail lights feature 96 LEDs, accompanied by dual exhausts and a digital flame grille, enhancing its striking appearance.
Additionally, practical features like roof rails and keyless entry with a push-button start round out the offering.
Advanced Safety Features:
The HS PHEV is equipped with six airbags, a 360-degree camera, and front and rear parking sensors, along with advanced features like Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) and Automatic Emergency Braking (AEB). It also boasts intelligent safety systems such as Lane Departure Warning, Forward Collision Warning, and a Blind Spot Information System, which all contribute to its notable 5-star Euro NCAP safety rating.
Additionally, the MG Pilot package provides further enhancements, including Traffic Jam Assist, Intelligent Speed Assistance, and High-Beam Control, enhancing safety in a variety of driving conditions.
