KARACHI – With the implementation of the 2024-25 fiscal year budget, the increased prices of lentils and pulses in Pakistan have made it more challenging for people to afford their daily living expenses.
The Wholesale Grocers Association has confirmed the development to media, stating that the rates of pulses and lentils have been revised up in line with the budget approved by the National Assembly in late June 2024.
People and traders have been urging the government to reverse the measures, which have make the basic food items unaffordable for them.
New Dal Per Kg Prices in Karachi
Reports indicate that the price of Grade 1 chana dal has risen to Rs. 295 per kilogram from the previous rate of Rs. 231, while the price of Grade 2 chana dal has gone up to Rs. 285 per kilogram from Rs. 216.
Additionally, the price of Grade 1 moong dal has increased by Rs. 60 per kilogram, reaching Rs. 330, and the price of Grade 2 moong dal has gone up from Rs. 260 to Rs. 300 per kilogram.
After an increase of Rs10 per kg, the dal maash price has surged to Rs520 while Kabuli chickpeas price increased by Rs60 to Rs362.
The price of black chickpeas increased by Rs38 per kg, reaching Rs255 per kg. Likewise, the price of besan rose by Rs30, bringing it to Rs280 per kg.
