ISLAMABAD – In a notable advancement for passport applicants, ten new desktop passport printing machines have arrived in Pakistan, significantly enhancing the Passport Department’s capacity and helping to reduce the backlog by doubling daily printing output.
As the number of passport applications surged, many offices experienced long queues. However, the Directorate General of Immigration & Passports has effectively tackled the ongoing delays in passport printing with the introduction of these new machines from abroad.
Passport Printing Update in Pakistan
The new machines are expected to be operational by the beginning of next week, significantly enhancing printing capabilities in the country of over 240 million people.
Officials reported that installation is currently underway at passport offices, and once the machines are fully functional, passport printing capacity will double, enabling a more efficient response to the growing demand.
At present, the Passport Department is processing between 20,000 and 22,000 passports daily, while facing a surge in applications, with approximately 45,000 to 50,000 requests received each day.
These new machines are set to greatly reduce the backlog and improve service delivery for citizens seeking passports.
