LAHORE – In a crackdown on illegal commercial buildings and defaulters of commercialization fees, the Lahore Development Authority (LDA) sealed 200 properties across various areas of Lahore on Monday.
The LDA Town Planning Wing sealed 80 businesses on College Road in Township, 36 in Gulberg and Faisal Town, 27 in Wapda Town, 25 in Sabzazar Housing Scheme, and 17 in New Muslim Town. Additionally, 13 marriage halls and marquees in the China Scheme area were sealed for non-payment of commercialization fees.
Among the sealed businesses were Cakes & Bakes, Bevro Bakers, Noor-ul-Iman School, Mian Palace, Bilal Marriage Garden, Gold Palace, Rehmat Barkat Marriage Hall, Palki Marriage Garden, Al-Madina Marquee, Nagina Marquee, as well as several private clinics, beauty parlors, grocery stores, food outlets, offices, and other establishments.
The operations were supervised by LDA Chief Town Planner I Assad-uz-Zaman and Chief Town Planner II Azhar Ali, with enforcement teams assisted by the police. LDA officials stated that several notices had been issued to the property owners prior to the operation.
LDA Director General Tahir Farooq emphasized the continuation of strict operations to address violations of building bylaws, illegal commercial ventures, and fee defaulters.
