At the time of her disappearance, Mint was living with her mother Caterina Fake, and attending a private boarding school in the Napa area, as per the sheriff’s office.
Described as approximately 5’0″ tall and weighing 100 lbs, Mint was last seen wearing a black sweatshirt, flannel pajama pants, and black boots. She has distinctive brown/reddish curly hair, and her eyebrows are pierced. Mint may have been carrying a gray suitcase.

Mint headed to the San Francisco area after running away
Mint Butterfield, the only child of Silicon Valley’s prominent entrepreneurs Stewart Butterfield and Caterina Fake, has been reported missing. Stewart Butterfield, co-founder of Slack, has reached out to authorities, expressing deep concern for his 16-year-old child’s whereabouts.
According to police and local officials, Mint is believed to be in San Francisco’s Tenderloin neighborhood. Mint, who resides in San Francisco, has a history of substance abuse and is known to frequent the Tenderloin area.
In response to Mint’s disappearance, renowned writer and social media personality Yashar Ali also raised awareness about Mint’s situation, garnering significant attention and shares on social media platforms.
Marin County Sheriff’s Office issued a flyer with Mint’s picture on the social media platform Nextdoor. Supervisor Matt Dorsey shared the flyer, indicating Mint’s presence in or around the Tenderloin area.
As of now, the San Francisco Police Department has not provided updates on Mint’s whereabouts or their involvement in the investigation. Despite efforts to reach out, Supervisor Matt Dorsey has not responded to inquiries.
