Get your Driving License Online with DLMIS
Obtaining a driver’s license in Pakistan has often been a cumbersome process, with long waits at authorized centers or some individuals resorting to driving without proper licensing. However, recent developments and reforms in traffic laws have led to a surge in vehicle owners seeking to acquire licenses.
Previously, candidates had to visit authorized centers with necessary documents and undergo multiple visits and a driving test. Now, thanks to the government’s Driving License Information Management System (DLIMS), the process has become much simpler. It’s now possible to apply for a license online and have it delivered to your doorstep.
How to Apply for a New Driving License Through DLIMS Punjab
To apply for a new driving license through DLIMS in Punjab, visit the DLIMS website and click on the ‘Apply Now‘ button. Different options are available, including Learner’s permit, Permanent license, International license, Duplicate license, Endorsement of a request, and permit renewal.
For a Learner’s permit, applicants must be at least 18 years old, and its validity lasts for six months. The required documents for a Permanent License include the original Learner’s permit, DLIMS application form, medical certificate, three passport-sized attested photographs, an attested copy of CNIC, and payment of the specified fee.
Verification of Driving License
The fees for a Permanent License vary depending on the type of vehicle, with a motorcycle license costing PKR 550 and a car license totaling PKR 900. To acquire a Learner’s permit, one needs a copy of their National Identity Card, a Rs. 60 ticket from any post office, a codebook of traffic rules, and a medical certificate.
For those seeking to verify their existing driver’s license, this can be easily done through DLIMS by entering your CNIC. In case of any discrepancies, recheck the entered CNIC number.
In the event of a lost license, applicants need to submit an identical application form, an attested copy of their CNIC, two attested recent photographs, the expiry date of the license, an FIR (Lost License report) from the police station, and the designated fee (PKR 100 for a motorcycle and PKR 150 for a car).
For license renewal, you will need a copy of your CNIC, two passport-sized photographs, a medical certificate issued by an authorized practitioner, a Medical Fitness Certificate (for candidates aged 50 or above), the application form, original Driving License, relevant tickets, and a deposit of Rs. 180 on the STR form after passing the test.
It’s important to note that according to unofficial reports, only biometric-verified CNIC holders can obtain a driver’s license in Pakistan. Additionally, there’s a legal provision that warrants an FIR for murder in the event of a fatal accident involving an unlicensed or underage driver.
