Actor Billy Miller, famous for his roles in “General Hospital” and “The Young and the Restless,” tragically took his own life through a gunshot to the head, as determined by a report from the Travis County Medical Examiner obtained by ET on Tuesday.
Billy Miller, who sadly passed away on September 15 in Austin, Texas, just a few days before his 44th birthday, had built a noteworthy career. His extensive portfolio featured recurring appearances in shows like “Suits” and “Ray Donovan.” Additionally, he earned three daytime Emmy Awards for his portrayal of Billy Abbot in “The Young and the Restless.”

The coroner’s report revealed Miller was found in his bathtub and pronounced dead at the scene, which contained numerous letters confirming suicidal intent and instructions for those who found him, per ET. The actor had several drugs in his system at the time.
Tests on Billy Miller’s body revealed the presence of substances like alcohol, cocaine, diphenhydramine from allergy or cold medicine, cannabis, and amphetamines in his blood. In response to unfounded speculations surrounding his death, his mother, Patricia Miller, expressed her strong disapproval in a statement to Soap Opera Digest.
“He fought a long hard valiant battle with bipolar depression for years,” she wrote. “He did everything he could to control the disease. He loved his family, his friends and his fans but in the end the disease won the fight and he surrendered his life.”
Miller won three daytime Emmys for his role as Billy Abbot on “The Young and the Restless.”
“The other causes of death being told are not true,” Patricia Miller continued. “I wish they were but they just aren’t. We all loved him so much and are desperately trying to deal with our loss. I will have nothing further to say. Thanks for the love and support.”
A spokesperson confirmed to various news sources that the actor was dealing with manic depression at the time of his death. According to the Mayo Clinic, bipolar disorder can lead to intense mood changes and feelings of despair if not properly addressed with medication.
People who used to work with Billy Miller, like his former co-stars and the team from “The Young and the Restless” show, expressed their sadness and condolences on social media.
