A tragic incident occurred in Tulamba, a Tehsil of Khanewal in Punjab, on Sunday. Asim Jameel, the younger son of the renowned religious scholar Maulana Tariq Jameel, allegedly took his own life.
Maulana Tariq confirmed his son’s passing, referring to it as an “accidental” death in a post shared on a social media platform. However, there have been conflicting reports circulating on social media, with some suggesting it was a suicide, while others claim it was due to enmity.

Amidst these conflicting accounts, Maulana Yousaf Jameel, the elder son of the preacher, shared a video on social media. In it, he expressed the need to address the varying reports surrounding his brother’s death. Tearfully, he revealed that his brother had been grappling with depression since childhood and had been on medication for years. In the last six months, his condition had deteriorated to the point where he had to receive electric shock therapy to manage it.

According to Yousaf Jameel, Asim Jameel was alone at home on Sunday, and he obtained a firearm from a security personnel, ultimately taking his own life due to his ongoing battle with mental illness.
However, a statement from Maulana Tariq’s brother offers a different perspective. He contends that it was not a suicide, but rather an accidental death. He explains that Asim and his cousins were in the gym when a bullet was unintentionally discharged by one of them. Unfortunately, the bullet struck Asim’s heart, resulting in his immediate passing.
