Admiral Amjad Khan Niazi, the Chief of Naval Staff, is set to step down from his position on October 7 as his tenure comes to an end.
The process to appoint a new chief for the Pakistan Navy has been set in motion, with the Ministry of Defence sending a list of recommended candidates to the caretaker Prime Minister Anwaarul Kakar.
Among these recommendations, Vice Admiral Naveed Ashraf stands out as the most senior officer.
The names of other officers are expected to be revealed in due course. The final decision will rest with the Prime Minister.
