The Punjab government has revealed a raise in the minimum monthly wage for workers and laborers to 37,000 rupees. This decision, spearheaded by Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, marks a pivotal step towards enhancing economic stability and ensuring fair compensation for laborers across the province.
Starting now, the minimum wage for unskilled laborers has risen from 32,000 rupees to 37,000 rupees per month. Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz highlighted the need to ensure that all daily wage and unskilled workers receive this fair pay, stressing their basic right to decent compensation.
The government’s notification specifies that for an 8-hour workday, the daily wage will set at 1,423.07 rupees. This move aligns with the current fiscal budget and reflects the Punjab government’s commitment to supporting its labor force.
Maryam Nawaz Sharif stated that protecting the rights of every worker in the province is our responsibility. She also instructed quick discussions with stakeholders to ensure the new minimum wage is properly put into action and enforced.
The Chief Minister was upset about wage differences and workers not getting paid properly, especially in domestic jobs. She emphasized following workplace rules strictly to protect workers’ rights better.
