The Nanbai Association has decided to raise the prices of bread, naan, and paratha following a Rs100 increase in the price of a sack of flour. The revised prices will be Rs20 for whole wheat bread (pateeri), Rs30 for yeast-raised white bread, and Rs35 for both paratha and roghani naan.
Shafiq Qureshi, the Central President of the Nanbai Association, told The Express Tribune that the Punjab government has failed to deliver on its commitment to supply flour sacks at Rs6,500 to ensure affordable bread. He mentioned that the recent increase in prices is temporary, and if the cost of refined flour continues to rise by the week’s end, bread prices could rise by an additional Rs5.
