Muharram Holidays in Pakistan 2024
In July, there will be two consecutive holidays to observe Ashura, which falls on Muharram 9 and 10.
The Pakistani government has already scheduled these two holidays in the 2024 calendar. People anticipate that Ashura will fall on Monday and Tuesday, pending confirmation of the exact dates based on the decision of the Ruet-e-Hilal Committee regarding the sighting of the Muharram moon.
If moon is sighted on July 6, Muharram 1 will be on July 7, making Ashura fall on July 15 and 16. Consequently, the public holidays will be on July 15 and 16 (Monday and Tuesday).
The Islamic New Year beginning on July 8 means Ashura will fall on July 16 and 17, leading to public holidays on July 16 and 17, which are Tuesday and Wednesday.
