New Currency Notes Pakistan 2024 on Eid ul Fitr: With the onset of Ramadan, There is an increase in the request for new currency notes of different amounts because people like to give them as Eidi (gifts).
However, even though the demand is high, there are not enough notes available, which makes it hard to get them. This situation also creates illegal markets for festive money just before Eid ul Fitr.
In the past two years, both the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) and commercial banks refrained from issuing new currency notes before Eid ul Fitr, allowing the currency mafia to exploit the situation.
Based on trustworthy information, the central bank hasn’t decided to alter this method. As a result, individuals are compelled to resort to the currency mafia, which charges additional fees for supplying new notes.
Last year, additional charges ranging from Rs150 to Rs1,500 were imposed on various denominations, with the highest premiums on Rs500 notes.
In the past, people could get new currency notes either from SBP counters or by using the SMS method. With the SMS method, they would send their CNIC numbers and get a code to collect fresh notes from banks. However, since 2022, the central bank hasn’t provided any information on this, which has left people unsure about how to proceed.
