In Lahore, light to moderate rain provided relief to the citizens from weather related diseases by washing away pollutants.
Prior to the intermittent light rain, citizens were suffering from weather related diseases.
As per the medical practitioners, children and elderly people were at a greater risk due to weak immunity.
“Pneumonia, high fever, skin allergy, cough, sore throat, eye sore and lungs infection were on the rise due to dry cold and high pollution. The rain, though light, will help reducing the disease burden by washing away pollutants”, said Dr Abdul Rauf, a family physician running clinic in Farooq Gunj, a congested locality of Northern Lahore.
The situation is expected to get better because the Meteorological office has forecasted more occasional rain in the upcoming days.
