The State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) Governor Jameel Ahmed announced on Monday that the central bank has made a landmark decision to introduce new currency notes across all denominations, aiming to enhance security features and combat counterfeit currency circulation in the country.
During a casual chat with reporters, the central bank Governor unexpectedly announced intentions to introduce new currency notes of all values in Pakistan.
The move, aimed at combating black money within the country, signifies a principled decision by the State Bank of Pakistan to overhaul the existing currency system.
Governor Jameel Ahmed highlighted that the new currency notes will have advanced security features from around the world to prevent fake copies. Also, there will be a design competition in February to decide how the new currency will look.
The envisioned notes are expected to boast vibrant colors, distinct serial numbers, intricate designs, and heightened security measures.
Governor Jameel Ahmed assured that the transition wouldn’t be like India’s sudden currency change. The decision came because of worries about fake money spreading all over Pakistan. It shows the central bank wants to keep Pakistan’s money system safe and honest.
