New Delhi: The Noida police have so far sealed properties worth over ₹ 200 crore linked to scrap metal mafia and gangster Ravi Kana and his gang that operates in the Delhi-NCR region.
In a determined effort to tackle illegal activities in the scrap industry, the Noida police conducted a raid and closed down a lavish South Delhi residence worth ₹100 crore that a notorious gangster had given as a gift to his girlfriend, Kajal Jha.
Who is Kajal Jha?
Ravi Kana’s girlfriend Kajal Jha had approached the gangster in search of a job, but soon joined his gang becoming the most important member. She was in-charge of handling the books on all his benami properties.
Kana generously bestowed a lavish three-story mansion valued at nearly ₹100 crore in the upscale New Friends Colony of South Delhi. Prior to the police raid on this luxurious property last Wednesday, Kajal Jha and her companions hastily vacated the premises to avoid arrest. Subsequently, law enforcement sealed the bungalow.
According to the police, Ravindra Nagar, also known as Ravi Kana, leads a gang of 16 members engaged in the unlawful acquisition and sale of rebar and scrap material. Ravi Kana, initially a scrap dealer, allegedly amassed wealth by orchestrating a gang that illegally obtained and sold scrap materials after extorting businesses in the Delhi-NCR region.
Ravi Kana, the brother of Harendra Pradhan, another Greater Noida gangster killed in 2014 by a rival gang, assumed control following his brother’s demise. He, too, received police protection due to death threats. A viral video captures Kana entering a wedding event, surrounded by several policemen.
Currently facing 11 registered cases, including charges of kidnapping and theft, Ravi Kana and his associates have encountered legal consequences. Six members of the gang have been apprehended thus far. Authorities have also conducted raids on numerous scrap warehouses utilized by the gang in Greater Noida and Noida, subsequently sealing them.
The gangster is currently on the run along with his girlfriend and other gang members.
