Authorities have initiated a homicide investigation following a shooting incident in Allentown, Pennsylvania, resulting in the tragic deaths of a 1-year-old boy and a 44-year-old woman, as stated in a Facebook release by the police on Saturday.
A third victim, a 66-year-old male, sustained severe injuries but was promptly taken to the hospital and is expected to survive, according to the official statement. The incident unfolded on Chestnut Street at 8:42 p.m. on Friday night, prompting a swift response from the police.
“While both victims have been identified and their families notified, I am not releasing their identities at this time due to these tragic circumstances, allowing the families to grieve privately,” mentioned Allentown Coroner Daniel A. Buglio in a news release, as reported by NBC 10 Philadelphia. Buglio extended his condolences to the families, friends, and all those affected by the incident.
It’s noteworthy that two separate shooting incidents occurred in Allentown from Friday night into Saturday morning, resulting in a total of six injuries and two fatalities. At present, these incidents are not believed to be connected.
