Khyber Pakhtunkhwa CM Ali Amin Gandapur, Bushra Bibi, and Omar Ayub Khan Take Refuge Amid Political Unrest
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Chief Minister Ali Amin Khan Gandapur, Bushra Bibi (wife of PTI leader Imran Khan), and opposition leader in the National Assembly, Omar Ayub Khan, have reportedly taken refuge in Mansehra after the government’s crackdown on the ongoing protests at D-Chowk in Islamabad. Sources have confirmed that the trio is currently staying at the residence of KP Assembly Speaker Babar Saleem Swati, located at the Justice Secretariat in Mansehra, where an emergency press conference is expected to be held at 11 AM.
The sudden disappearance of these prominent PTI leaders has sparked widespread speculation and concern, particularly among their supporters. For hours, their whereabouts were unclear, raising questions about their safety.
Uncertainty and Concerns Over Bushra Bibi’s Safety
Adding to the growing tension, Maryam Riaz Wattoo, Bushra Bibi’s sister, voiced deep concerns over conflicting reports about her sibling’s location. In a video message, Wattoo expressed fears that her sister may have been abducted, citing various reports suggesting that Bushra Bibi had either been arrested or was in hiding. Wattoo emphasized that if Bushra were safe, she would have contacted her family by now, insisting that her sister would never abandon the protest or leave her husband under such dire circumstances.
PTI Protest Called Off Amid Midnight Crackdown
The political unrest in Islamabad reached a peak when PTI called for a major demonstration in the capital. However, after a midnight crackdown by law enforcement agencies, the party was forced to call off the protest. PTI officials have since claimed that at least eight of their workers were killed during the unrest, including notable figures such as Anis Shehzad Satti and Malik Mubeen Aurangzeb.
Despite the violent crackdown, PTI leaders have remained tight-lipped about their next steps, with party members stating that future actions will depend on guidance from their imprisoned leader, Imran Khan.
A Nation in Suspense
As the situation continues to unfold, the uncertainty surrounding the whereabouts and safety of key PTI figures has left many in suspense. The party’s next course of action remains unclear, but the mounting tension suggests that the political crisis in Pakistan is far from over. As of now, the scheduled press conference in Mansehra is expected to provide further insights into the ongoing developments.
In the wake of the crackdown and ongoing unrest, all eyes are on PTI’s next move and the potential ramifications for the country’s political landscape.
