Punjab Summer Vacations 2024 New Schedule
Originally, summer vacations were planned to start on June 1, 2024, and end on August 14, 2024. With the addition of these extra holidays, the new schedule for summer vacations is as follows:
Summer Holidays | Dates |
---|---|
Start of Summer Vacation | May 25 |
End of Summer Vacation | August 14 |
All government and private schools in Punjab will reopen on August 15, 2024, after a 2.5-month break.
Reason for the Early Summer Holidays
The early commencement of summer holidays is a proactive measure in response to predictions from the Meteorological Department. The Met office has forecasted that due to high pressure in the upper atmosphere, heatwave conditions are expected to develop over most parts of the country, particularly Punjab and Sindh, starting from May 21, 2024. These conditions are predicted to escalate into severe heatwaves between May 23 and May 27, 2024.
Daytime temperatures are expected to be 4 to 6°C above normal from May 21 to May 23, and 6 to 8°C above normal from May 23 to May 27, 2024, in Punjab and Sindh.
This precautionary measure aims to protect students from the extreme heat and ensure their well-being during this period.
