After the first successful start of Pakistan’s initial moon satellite, iCUBE, another small object in space is set to be sent on May 30. The soon-to-be-launched satellite, MM1, is a joint project between SUPARCO and the National Space Agency and will help create an advanced communication network.
Designed to address the increasing demands of the telecom sector, MM1 is poised to enhance 5G internet services in the country.
Recently, Pakistan’s first moon mission, ICUBE Qamar, reached a major achievement by entering the moon’s path successfully just three days ago. Working in very tough conditions, with temperatures dropping as low as minus 100 degrees Celsius, MM1 has a 7kg camera with one million pixels specially designed for missions with strict power limits.
Its ability to send pictures at a basic 1-kbps speed will help with examining the moon’s surface, giving important information about where craters are, water, and signs of ice. These discoveries, gathered using different methods, offer great potential for worldwide use.
