In Punjab, the Traffic Police is responsible for issuing driving licenses to eligible individuals across the province. It’s a legal requirement to obtain a driving license before operating a vehicle on the road. Driving without this document is considered a violation of the law.
The Traffic Police Department issues licenses for various types of vehicles, including motorcycles, cars, and commercial vehicles, following an assessment of the applicant’s driving proficiency. If the person successfully passes the test, they are granted a license, permitting them to drive on the roads.
Requirements for Obtaining a Car/Motorcycle License:
- Original ID card
- Medical Fitness Certificate (mandatory for candidates aged 50 years or above)
Documents Needed:
- Original learner permit
- Deposit of Rs180 on an STR form at a designated branch after passing the test.
Fees for Car/Motorcycle License:
As of October 2023, applicants are required to submit a ticket of Rs950 along with the necessary documents for a Motorcycle/Motor Car license. These tickets can be purchased from any branch of the Pakistan Post.
