In a tragic incident, Mayawati Bracken, 56, was discovered stabbed to death in a Lexus in Pangbourne, Berkshire, while an adolescent believed to be her son, Julian Bracken, 18, was found dead on nearby train tracks, according to an inquest.
The inquest revealed that around 30 minutes after Mayawati’s discovery, Julian was found deceased on a railway track. Both were assumed to be mother and son, residing in the same house.
Thames Valley Police initiated a murder investigation, suspecting a connection between the two deaths. The police were called to the A340 around 5.45 p.m., where Mayawati received medical assistance but couldn’t be saved. She was pronounced dead shortly thereafter.
Assistant coroner Alison McCormick stated that the presumed cause of Mayawati’s death was “shock and hemorrhage” due to a stab wound in the chest.
Julian was located on the track near Pangbourne station at 6.15 p.m. and was pronounced dead at the scene on January 4. The cause of his death, determined by a post-mortem, was “multiple injuries.”
Mayawati lived in a seven-bedroom £2.5 million property in Pangbourne with her three children – a twin boy and girl and a second son. Friends described her as a kind and loving woman who would “do anything” for her children.
The full inquests have been adjourned until a later date. The tragic incident has left the community in shock and mourning the loss of a seemingly loving family.
