Chief Minister Punjab Mohsin Naqvi announced on Friday that schools in the province will remain closed on Saturday due to smog-related concerns.
However, the Punjab government has decided to lift other smog-related restrictions for the upcoming weekend. Markets, businesses, restaurants, and other establishments will operate as usual on both Saturday and Sunday.
This decision follows an improvement in the smog situation, attributed to recent rainfall in Lahore, resulting in a significant enhancement in the Air Quality Index.
Winter vacations in educational institutions of Punjab are scheduled to begin on December 18. Chief Minister Punjab also emphasized the continued cleaning of roads, sprinkling water, and a crackdown against smoke-emitting vehicles and tire-burning factories.
