Junaid Safdar, the son of Maryam Nawaz from the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), confirmed on Thursday that he and his wife have divorced, more than a year after their wedding.
Junaid shared the news in an Instagram story, stating, “News about my divorce is true.” The couple had tied the knot on August 22 in ceremonies held in London and Pakistan.
During their time together, they maintained a low profile, staying away from the media spotlight. Junaid emphasized that this is a private matter and urged the media to respect their privacy. He expressed hope for peace with this decision and stated that he would not comment further on the matter, wishing his former wife well.
Following the announcement, Junaid removed all pictures with his ex-wife from his Instagram account.
Who is Ayesha?
Junaid’s former wife, Ayesha, is the daughter of Saif ur Rehman Khan, a former head of the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) and a prominent businessman based in Qatar. She was born and raised in Qatar, receiving her education in British schools. She pursued higher education in London, earning a degree in Civil Engineering from University College London (UCL). Ayesha had been a Director at Redco International, a major industrial and contracting group in Qatar. Her interests include reading, horse riding, interior decoration, history, hiking, and appreciating nature and travel.
