The National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) in Pakistan is now issuing a new Smart National Identity Card for Overseas Pakistanis, called SNICOP. This card is for Pakistani citizens who live abroad.
With this card, Pakistani citizens living abroad won’t need a visa if they have dual nationality. When applying for this card for newborn babies born abroad, you must provide their passport number.
NADRA has different fees for SNICOP based on the region, dividing countries into Zone A and Zone B.
For Australia, Italy, and Germany in September 2023, these countries are in Zone A, and as of that date, NADRA has not changed the fees for SNICOP.
How to Apply for NICOP
You can apply for SNICOP in two ways:
- NADRA Registration Center (NRC):
- Visit your nearest NADRA Registration Center.
- Follow these steps at the NRC:
- Get a token.
- Have your photo taken.
- Provide your fingerprints and signature.
- Enter your required data, and the form will be printed for your review.
- Receive a printed application form.
- After the form is printed, get it attested by a gazetted officer and submit it to the NRC. If a blood relative (like a parent or sibling) is with you at the NRC, their biometrics can be captured, and attestation is not needed.
- Pak Identity Website:
- Apply for SNICOP online by visiting the Pak Identity website.
- You can have the card delivered to your doorstep.
So, this new SNICOP card is designed for Overseas Pakistanis, making it easier for them to travel and access certain benefits without requiring a visa for dual nationality holders. You can apply for it at NADRA centers or online through the Pak Identity website.
