The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has hiked the fare rates for the Green, Orange, and Blue Line Metro buses, citing inflation in the transportation industry.
According to CDA officials, the fares for Orange and Green Line buses have increased from Rs. 30 to Rs. 50. For the Blue Line bus service, which runs from Rawat to PIMS hospital, the fare has increased from Rs. 50 to Rs. 90.
The increased bus fares in Islamabad will take effect once the Capital Development Authority (CDA) officially announces them. Chairman Anwar-ul-Haq explained that the fare hike became necessary because there isn’t enough money to continue running buses at lower, subsidized prices.
These higher fares are causing difficulties for the general public, who are already struggling with rising inflation.
6th Road Station in Shambles
The 6th Road Metro Bus Station in Rawalpindi was completely destroyed in a fire during the May 9 protests. Despite several months passing since this incident, the Punjab administration has not been able to rebuild the station.
Because the station is not operational, people who need to use it for their commutes are now forced to go to either Rehmanabad or Shamsabad Bus Stations. Walking to these alternative stations is causing difficulties for the local residents.
The public is requesting that the authorities take action to resolve this problem.
