KARACHI – A drop in global gold prices affected local gold rates in Pakistan as the precious metal plunged by Rs700.
According to data from the All Pakistan Gems and Jewellers Sarafa Association (APGJSA), the cost of 24-carat gold has fallen by Rs700 and now stands at Rs239,100 per tola. The price of 10 grams of gold has also decreased by Rs600, bringing it down to Rs204,990.
In contrast, last week saw a significant increase in gold prices, with a rise of Rs3,400 per tola. On the global stage, the price of gold dropped by $5 to $1,940 per ounce on the first working day of this week.
As for silver, its rates in Pakistan have remained steady at Rs2,900 per tola.
