A slight increase of 81 paisas per litre in petrol prices and a reduction of Rs 3.94 per litre in diesel prices have been proposed for the upcoming fortnight, starting December 16, 2024.
These changes are based on price trends observed during the first 12 days of the current fortnight, influenced by international market fluctuations following a regime change in Syria.
If stability is restored in Syria soon, there may be further reductions in petroleum prices. Currently, global crude oil and petroleum product supplies are ample, but demand remains low.
Starting December 16, petrol prices are expected to rise by 81 paisas, reaching Rs 252.92 per litre, while diesel prices are projected to decrease by Rs 3.94, dropping to Rs 254.53 per litre from the current Rs 258.43.
Earlier, the Finance Ministry revised petroleum prices for the fortnight beginning December 1, raising petrol by Rs 3.72 per litre to Rs 252.10 and increasing high-speed diesel (HSD) by Rs 3.29 per litre to Rs 258.43. At the same time, kerosene saw a decrease of 62 paisas per litre, and light diesel dropped by 48 paisas per litre.
