ISLAMABAD – The federal government has announced plans to provide free electric bikes to the top-performing students of the Federal Board.
The decision was made during a meeting chaired by Federal Minister Rana Tanveer Hussain, where discussions were held about the Electric Vehicles Policy. The meeting also focused on the progress of constructing 40 charging stations along motorways and national highways. Minister Hussain commended the work of the Capital Development Authority (CDA) and instructed that charging stations be set up at all petrol pumps.
Eligibility for Free Electric Bikes
As part of the initiative, the government will provide free electric bikes to the top 120 students of the Federal Board. Additionally, 39,000 electric bikes and 1,900 electric rickshaws will be made available through concessional loans.
Rana Tanveer Hussain emphasized that Islamabad will be developed into a model city in line with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s vision. He also mentioned that the Electric Vehicles Policy will be formally announced soon.
Punjab’s Scheme for Students
Earlier, the Punjab government launched a scheme offering electric and petrol motorcycles to college and university students at easy installment plans.
