LAHORE – Pakistani citizens are required to renew their Smart National Identity Cards well before the expiry date or immediately after it expires to avail various government and other services.
The National Database Registration Authority (Nadra) is the competent authority to issue or renew the ID cards, which are essential for various routine matters ranging from opening a bank account to buying property, making investments, or applying for jobs.
Pakistani citizens are not eligible to avail these services or even apply for jobs if they do not have an ID card.
The unique 13-digit identification number is recognized all over the country. It is the first requirement for individuals as it is mandatory to obtain documents like a license, NTN, bank account, passport, cellular connection, etc.
Smart NIC Renewal Fee Update for Pakistanis
May 2024 As of May 2024, the fee structure for the Smart National Identity Card (SNIC) remains unchanged. The normal fee for a Smart NIC is Rs750, while the urgent fee is Rs1,500, and the executive fee for renewal services is Rs2,500.
The ID card is issued with a validity of 10 years. The timeline for the normal/urgent/executive categories will start after the approval of the case by the relevant authority, and the fees mentioned above are exclusive of delivery charges.
