The Sindh Revenue Board (SRB) sealed two well-known businesses in Karachi to tackle tax evasion. The businesses affected are Sajjad Restaurant at Do Darya and Dawat, an event management company in Khayaban-e-Bukhari, Phase VI, DHA.
The SRB (Sindh Revenue Board) took action because both groups didn’t follow the rules of the Sindh Sales Tax on Services Act, 2011. They didn’t report all their sales correctly, which meant they didn’t pay the full Sindh Sales Tax (SST). Also, they didn’t submit the required tax forms even after getting many reminders from the SRB.
In the case of Sajjad Restaurant, the SRB noted an additional violation. The restaurant had not integrated its Point of Sales (POS) with the SRB POS invoicing system as per the prescribed rules.
The SRB has said it’s determined to make sure everyone pays their taxes correctly. It will keep doing things like this to stop people from avoiding taxes and making the government lose money in Sindh.
