The Punjab interim government has decided to extend the winter vacation in schools for an additional week due to the prevailing cold weather conditions. The announcement was made by Punjab’s interim Chief Minister, Mohsin Naqvi, on Wednesday.
As part of the extended break, classes for students in Class one and below, including Nursery, Prep, and KG, will remain suspended for the upcoming week. The decision comes in response to the forecasted cold and dry weather across Punjab, with the expectation of fog prevailing in the region, as indicated by the Meteorological Office.

In addition to the weather considerations, CM Naqvi highlighted that the government has chosen to postpone exams, citing the unfortunate deaths of several children due to pneumonia.
Earlier, the Punjab government had already implemented a change in school timings. Starting from January 10 until January 22, classes now commence at 9:30 am. These measures are aimed at ensuring the safety and well-being of students during the challenging winter conditions.
