In a stunning display of cricketing prowess, Nepal’s batsmen showcased their talent in a record-breaking performance against Mongolia during the Asian Games 2023 match. Dipendra Singh, in particular, stole the spotlight by notching up six consecutive fifties and clinching the title of the fastest T20I fifty in international cricket, achieving this feat in just nine balls. This incredible performance surpassed Yuvraj Singh’s record set 16 years ago.
Adding to the spectacle, 19-year-old Kushal Malla, a left-handed batter, achieved the fastest T20I hundred in history, reaching the coveted milestone in only 34 balls. This remarkable feat surpassed the joint record held by David Miller and Rohit Sharma, who had achieved a fifty in 35 balls in previous matches.
Kushal Malla’s explosive inning included an impressive tally of 12 sixes and eight fours, leaving him unbeaten at an astounding 137 runs. This extraordinary performance propelled Nepal to a historic T20I total of 314 for 3 against Mongolia, who had chosen to field.
Following Malla’s incredible innings, Dipendra Singh Airee took the stage at No. 5, and in a breathtaking nine-ball spree, he secured his fifty, outshining Yuvraj Singh’s 16-year-old record. Yuvraj’s fifty against England in the ICC World T20 match of 2007, achieved in 12 balls, had been a remarkable feat. In that same innings, Yuvraj also achieved the extraordinary feat of hitting six consecutive sixes against Stuart Broad.

While Dipendra’s phenomenal performance was against the smaller team of Mongolia, it was still an awe-inspiring display of skill and determination in the Asian Games.
Furthermore, Dipendra matched Yuvraj’s record by hitting six successive sixes in the game, further solidifying his place in the record books.
In terms of team totals, Afghanistan held the previous record for the highest innings total in a single T20I. They had scored an impressive 278 for 3 against Ireland in a match back in 2019.
