KARACHI – Cold weather prevailed in Karachi and most parts of Sindh on Wednesday with experts predicting the similar conditions to persist during the next two days.
Mohenjo-Daro and Mithi experienced the lowest temperatures in Sindh, dropping to 04 degrees Celsius. In Mohenjo-Daro, the relative humidity in the evening stood at 49 percent, while in Mithi, it was recorded at 23 percent. Karachi, on the other hand, witnessed its coldest day of the current season, with a minimum temperature of 12 degrees Celsius on Wednesday.
In the evening, the humidity level was measured at 21 percent. The upper districts experienced thick fog and smog, causing disruptions in regular traffic on both inter and intra-city roads throughout the night until the morning. According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), a continental air mass is dominant across most regions of Pakistan.
During this period, Karachi and many areas in the province are anticipated to experience predominantly cold and dry weather from Wednesday night through Thursday and Friday.
Dense fog/smog is likely to persist in Jacobabad, Mohenjo-Daro, Sukkur, Larkana, Dadu, Ghotki, Khairpur, Kashmore and Padidan during morning and night hours.
